Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C)
Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) may be used to prevent or treat vitamin C deficiency. Low levels of vitamin C may lead to a condition called scurvy. Symptoms of scurvy include skin rash or brown spots on the skin, weak muscles, pale skin, joint pain, tiredness, depression, and even tooth loss. Vitamin C is important as it is needed to maintain the health of skin, teeth, cartilage, bone and blood vessels.
